How does billing work?
Prices are displayed as hourly rates, but usage is metered by the minute: each deduction rounds the time since the previous one up to a whole minute. Charges accrue from when a machine is started, including start-up time and any wait for capacity, until it is stopped. Metered usage is deducted from the wallet balance while the machine runs, normally once an hour, and when it is stopped.
Do I need a subscription?
No. You add credit to a prepaid wallet and metered usage is deducted from it. Creating or starting a machine requires a balance that covers at least 3 hours at that machine's hourly rate. This is a check, not a charge: only metered usage is deducted.
What happens when my balance runs out?
The balance is checked each time usage is deducted. If it cannot cover the usage, what is left is deducted, the balance stops at €0.00 and the machine is stopped automatically. The stop happens at that deduction, not at the moment the balance runs out. A stopped machine keeps its disk and can be started again after more credit is added.
Can I get a refund?
Unused credit is refundable within 14 days of the top-up. Compute that has already been used is not refundable, except for verified service-side faults reported within 7 days. Send refund requests to support@gputax.example.
How long does a machine take to start?
Start-up takes minutes: a machine is usually ready within 15 minutes of being started, and its connection details appear on the machine page once it is running. Start-up time is billed.
How do I connect to my machine?
Each machine runs Windows Server 2022 and Windows 10 (BYOL). Connect with Remote Desktop using the address and password on the machine page, or install a compatible streaming client such as Parsec or Moonlight. Parsec and Moonlight are optional third-party applications that you obtain and use under their own terms; gputax does not supply or pre-install them.
Where are the machines located?
In 16 regions. North America: US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (N. California), US West (Oregon) and Canada (Central). Europe: Ireland, London, Frankfurt and Stockholm. Asia Pacific: Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney, Mumbai and Hong Kong. Africa: Cape Town. You choose the region when you create a machine; not every GPU is offered in every region, and the hourly rate varies by region.
Can I play any game?
Most Windows games can be installed and played. Some multiplayer games use anti-cheat software that blocks cloud or virtual machines, so check the game before you add credit for it.
